Promise III: Redemptive Judgment. Clip Studio Paint, 10 x 10", Jan 2024.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.1 Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I [the LORD] am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?2 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.3 My ways [are] higher than your ways and my thoughts [are higher] than your thoughts. My word... that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.4 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.5
But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient..., not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.6 Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them?8
